Justice for Chenai
Chenai Mudzamiri fled from Zimbabwe and claimed asylum in the UK in January 2008. Chenai had been beaten, whipped and gang raped for not actively supporting the ruling party. On reporting this heinous crime to the police Chenai was accused of causing public order offences and causing problems between the opposition party MDC and the ruling party Zanu PF. Chenai was blindfolded by the police and tortured. She received brutal injuries to her back, a deep wound in her neck and cuts to her face and neck. This was the beginning of a series of beatings and regular torture at the hands of the police. Chenai had no one to turn to and no protection from the state. Her only option was to leave Zimbabwe and claim asylum. By signing this petition you are supporting the application of Miss Chenai Mudzamiri to be granted asylum in Britain. Chenai has a well founded fear of persecution if she is returned to Zimbabwe. Deporting Chenai would breach Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which prohibits returning a person to face torture. We call upon the Secretary of State to use discretion and grant Chenai the right to remain in the UK. View Signatures without signing
